Privacy policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

At Luminov, we install permanent LED lights on homes and businesses. To respond to your requests, we need a few pieces of personal information. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect on luminov.ca, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.

It complies with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25. It applies to the luminov.ca website and its forms. The simulator, offered on a separate site, has its own policy (see section 12). This English version is a translation; if the two versions differ, the French version prevails.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Luminov inc. is responsible for the personal information collected on this site. Charle-Étienne Boyer, the person in charge of the protection of personal information at Luminov, oversees this policy and answers your questions and requests.

  • Person in charge of the protection of personal information: Charle-Étienne Boyer, Luminov inc.
  • Email: info@luminov.ca
  • Phone: (450) 804-5093
  • Address: 57 Rue Ste-Cécile, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC J6T 1L6

2. The information we collect

We only collect the information needed for what you ask of us. You can browse the site without giving us any personal information.

What you send us

  • Quote request: project type, full name, phone, email, reasons for your project, project address (number, street, city, postal code, province), expected budget, comment and your consent to be contacted.
  • Support request: request type, name, phone, address and a description of the situation.
  • Job application: full name, phone, email, city or area, availability, experience you describe and your confirmation that you have read how pay works.

What comes with a form

With each form you send, the site adds the address of the page it came from, the first page you saw during your visit, the name of the site you came from (for example “google.com”, never the full address), the date it was sent and, when you arrive from an ad, the campaign parameters in the address (for example “utm_source”). A quote request also carries a randomly drawn number that identifies it without naming you. Attached to your request, this information tells us how you found us.

What is collected automatically

Like any website, our host receives technical data with every visit (IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time). It is used to run and secure the site. PostHog counts the pages viewed on each visit anonymously, without saving anything in your browser. Only with your consent, Google Analytics measures traffic on the site and PostHog records your visit. Cookies, traffic measurement and advertising measurement are explained in section 6.

3. Why we use it

Your information is used only for the purposes for which you gave it to us:

  • to answer your request and call you back;
  • to prepare your quote, schedule and complete your installation, then provide follow-up and warranty service;
  • to handle a support request or a warranty claim;
  • to review a job application and contact the person who sent it;
  • to measure, overall, traffic on the site: pages viewed, where visits come from;
  • to understand, with your consent, how the site is used (pages, clicks, scrolling, a recording of the visit), in order to improve it;
  • to understand, overall, which advertising campaigns bring in requests;
  • to keep the site secure and prevent abuse (for example, automated submissions).

We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. We do not use it for other purposes without your consent, except where the law allows or requires it. No decision about you is made solely through automated processing.

4. Your consent

By sending a form, you consent to our using the information you provide for the purposes described in section 3. The quote form asks for this expressly with a checkbox.

Traffic measurement, visit recording and advertising measurement cookies are only turned on if you accept them (section 6). They are off by default. Without them, only an anonymous count of pages viewed is made, with no cookie (section 6).

You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to info@luminov.ca, or change your cookie preferences with the “Manage cookies” button at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from following up on a request in progress.

5. Who we share it with

Internally, only the people who need your information for their work can access it: the team handling your request and, for an installation, the installer who carries it out.

To run this site, we also rely on service providers. They receive only what they need for the service they provide to us:

  • Vercel (United States): hosting of the site and the testimonial videos. Receives the technical data of each visit.
  • GoHighLevel (United States): receiving and following up on your requests, support requests and job applications. Receives the content of the forms.
  • Supabase (Canada): hosting of the home page background video. Receives the technical data of the visit when the video loads.
  • Google (United States): address suggestions in the quote form. Receives the characters you type in the address field, only when you use it.
  • Vimeo (United States): Careers page video. Receives the technical data of the visit only if you start the video; before that, its preview image goes through our server.
  • Google (United States): measurement of site traffic (Google Analytics), only if you accept it (section 6).
  • Meta (United States): advertising measurement, only if you accept it (section 6).
  • PostHog (a company based in the United States, data kept in the European Union): measurement of site traffic. Counts pages viewed anonymously, with no cookie; only with your consent, also records your visit (section 6).

We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it, for example at the request of a competent authority.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file saved by your browser. Here is what this site uses:

Necessary for the site to work

  • “luminov-consentement” (browser storage): remembers your choice about measurement cookies, until you change it or clear the site’s data.
  • “luminov-origine” (session storage): remembers the first page of your visit, the name of the site you came from, the campaign parameters and, if you arrive from an ad, its click identifier (for example “fbclid”), to attach the first three to a form you send and pass the campaign on to the simulator if you open it. Cleared when you close the tab.
  • “luminov-langue” (session storage): when you switch languages, remembers where you were on the page so you land in the same place. Deleted on the next page, and ignored after ten seconds.
  • “luminov-mouvement” (browser storage): present only if you pause the animations, so they stay paused from page to page. Deleted when you play them again.

Anonymous traffic measurement, with no cookie

On luminov.ca, whether or not you accept measurement cookies, PostHog counts the pages you visit, how you reached the site (search engine, ad, link from another site), your type of device, your approximate region and the sending of a quote request or job application (the fact that it was sent, never its content) and moving on to our simulator (the page you launch it from). Without your consent, nothing is saved in your browser: PostHog tells visits apart with a fingerprint computed on its servers from your IP address and browser, renewed every day, and your IP address is not kept. This measurement cannot identify you, nor recognize you from one day to the next. No other clicks, no scrolling and no screen recording are collected in this mode.

Traffic measurement, visit recording and advertising measurement, only with your consent

On luminov.ca, if you accept measurement cookies, Google Analytics loads and records the pages you visit, how you reached the site (search engine, ad, link from another site), your type of device, your approximate region and a few general actions (scrolling a page, clicking to another site, downloading a file), as well as the sending of a quote request or job application (the fact that it was sent, never its content). This helps us understand, overall, how the site is used. Google places its own cookies (“_ga” and “_ga_2FYFWJF8NK”, kept for up to 2 years). Google signals and ad personalization are turned off: this data is not used to show you advertising. No information entered in a form is sent to Google Analytics.

The same consent loads Meta’s pixel, which records the pages you visit, and the sending of a quote request or job application (the fact that it was sent, never its content). This lets us measure how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram perform. Meta may then place its own cookies (including “_fbp”, kept for up to 90 days) and link these visits to a Meta account. This technology makes it possible to profile you for advertising purposes: that is why it is off by default and only turns on with your consent. No information entered in a form is sent to Meta.

The same consent lets PostHog record your visit: pages, clicks, scrolling and a recording of the screen, which show us how the site is used and where it can be improved. Everything you type in a field is replaced with asterisks before it leaves your browser, and the text of the forms (for example the thank-you message that greets you by your first name, or the address suggestions) is masked. None of this data is linked to your name. PostHog then places its cookie (“ph_luminov_visites”, kept for up to 1 year) and session storage entries whose names start the same way. Screen recordings are deleted after 30 days.

You can change your mind at any time with the “Manage cookies” button at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing your consent deletes PostHog’s cookie. Declining has no effect on how you can use the site.

Third-party services

Google (address suggestions) and Vimeo (Careers page video) only load when you use the address field or start the video; their own policies may then apply. The links to our Facebook and Instagram pages take you to those platforms, which have their own rules.

7. Information kept outside Quebec

Several of our service providers are based in the United States, and PostHog keeps its data in the European Union (section 5). Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Quebec, where it is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including access requests from local authorities.

8. How long we keep it

The site itself keeps no copy of your forms: they are sent directly to our customer follow-up system.

We keep your information as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected: the time to handle your request and, if you become a client, for the length of your warranty and the related accounting and tax obligations. A job application is kept for the duration of the hiring process. Once those purposes are met, the information is securely destroyed or anonymized.

9. How we protect it

We take reasonable measures to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access: an encrypted connection (HTTPS) for the whole site and its forms, access limited to the people who need it, and well-established service providers.

If a confidentiality incident presented a risk of serious injury, we would notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned, as the law requires.

10. Your rights

At any time, you may:

  • find out whether we hold information about you and get a copy of it;
  • have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
  • have information deleted that is no longer needed or that we were not entitled to collect;
  • withdraw your consent;
  • ask that your information be sent to you, or to another organization, in a structured, commonly used technological format;
  • ask us to stop disseminating information about you, in the cases provided for by law.

To exercise a right, write to info@luminov.ca or call (450) 804-5093. We may need to verify your identity. We respond within 30 days. These requests are free of charge.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with Quebec’s Commission d’accès à l’information: www.cai.gouv.qc.ca.

11. Minors

This site is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information about a person under 14 without the consent of their parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

12. The simulator

The simulator that shows your home lit up is offered on a separate site, simulateur.luminov.ca (in French). It collects other information (including the photo and address of your home) and has its own policy: simulator privacy policy.

When you open it from this site, the link passes on the ad that brought you, if there is one: the campaign parameters and the click identifier. The simulator then knows which ad led you to Luminov, as if you had arrived there directly. Nothing else is passed on: not your form answers, nor the pages you viewed.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change, for example if we add a service provider. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. If there is a significant change, we will say so clearly on the site.

14. Contact us
